President’s Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the beginning of the 2013 football season! I look forward to working with each of you during the 2013 season.

Preparations for this season started in December as we transitioned several new officers. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to help out – this is not an easy task and many, many volunteers are needed throughout the year to make our season a success. Behind the scenes, in front of the crowds or by supporting our students in the stands, we need all of you to make our booster club strong. Show that Spartan pride!
My goal is to ensure that every family is well informed of SHS Football activities. Attending our monthly meetings, providing us with a “frequently checked” email address, and visiting www.steinertfootball.com often, will allow you to keep up with the very latest information.

Published April 13, 2013 | Sea Girt camp will be Wed. August 21st – Saturday, August 24th. Players with coaches will depart at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday after a scrimmage game and return Saturday at approx. 7:00 p.m.
Published April 13, 2013 | First day of practice will be Monday, August 12th. There will be a 10 day gradual heat acclimation period leading into double sessions and regular practice schedule.
Published April 13, 2013 | Monday nights or Tuesday nights from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m throughout the summer will be a team practice to prepare for 7 on 7′s and new style offense.
7 on 7′s will be at Notre Dame High School every Wednesday in July from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Published February 13, 2013 | Coach’s Corner:
Coach Caruso spoke about the importance and the improvement of academics of all football players. He is pleased that in this past year the GPA’s of all three football squads are very good. Players-position interviews will take place the week of March 24, 2013.
Coach Caruso talked about the possibility of players owning their own equipment due to the severity of the MRSA issue. This needs to be looked at and a proper company picked that will address both equipment issues and cost issues. More to follow on this subject.
The booster club along with Coach Caruso are looking into the possibility of new uniforms for the upcoming season. A gray shirt and pants with a green number is being considered. The helmet will stay the same. Details to follow.
Mini camp is tentatively set for June 24-26, 2013. Coach Caruso is exploring the possibility of all Steinert football players to attend the camp at no cost. The camp will be open to sixth graders on up. Those who are not Steinert football players will incur a cost to be determined at a later date.

Coach Caruso made mention that strength testing will be happening soon and that all athletes should continue to use and stay active in the weight room. Coach Caruso has a wish list of power racks to be purchased and installed in the weight room, however, this purchase would need Board of Education approval. Interviews for the 2013 season should begin in early February.
